About a week or two ago my friend Jeremy sent me a message on Facebook asking if I'd do another drawing for him. He asked me to do one for him a few years ago of his head on Brad Pitt's body from Fight Club (Tyler Durden) with Jessica Alba. Here's what the finished product looks like magentafreak.deviantart.com/ar… . He loved it! He happens to be a big Superman fan, so this time he asked if I'd do a drawing of his head on the body of Superman from the upcoming movie "Man Of Steel."
I had no idea there was a new Superman movie coming out. Then again, I don't really care for superhero movies unless it's Batman, and even then I'll wait until it comes out on DVD to see it (truth be told, I didn't give a shit about Batman, even though I've seen "Batman," "Batman Returns" and "Batman Forever" a ton of times, until I finally caved and saw "The Dark Knight."). He sent me a link to the trailer for the new movie and it looked okay, but I can see why others would like it. That and the new Superman costume looked awesome!
What's weird is that a few days before he sent me that message, I realized I literally have not done a single drawing in over a year. I can only draw when I'm in a certain mood, and as I get older, I find the mood comes less and less. I told him I would look into it, but as usual, I can make no guarantees.
True to my word, I did a Google search of Superman images from the new movie. I also raided Jeremy's profile to find good face shots of him. Turns out there was a picture of him where his head was in a perfect angle for transplantation to another image. Combined with an epic pose of Superman, it made a truly awesome picture. Now, I had procrastinated for about a week or so before actually doing this, mostly because I'm currently in the middle of a cross stitch project that is turning into a major undertaking. I set it aside for a few hours, not only to finally start work on my drawing, but to let my fingertips heal a bit.
It's truly amazing how you can start a project and be indifferent about it, then once you really get started, your whole attitude changes and you remember why you fell in love with drawing in the first place. I did complete the drawing, and it can be seen here magentafreak.deviantart.com/ar… . Once again, he was very pleased. I'm hoping to finish my cross stitch project sometime within the next few weeks, then who knows? Perhaps I'll be back into doing portraits for a while.

Etsy Shop
After much deliberation over what to do with some leftover glass gems from a project 3 years earlier, I decided to try my hand at making jewelry with it. Turns out, you can actually make some great pendants from them! I ended up making several, and with nothing better to do with them, I decided to open an Etsy shop. Well, that and my sister and a good friend asking if they could carry some of my wares in their shops/salons. Gave me a bit of confidence that I could actually pull this off. It's a bit of a nice distraction from the mess of trying to get a book published, but of course this means that between that, my Etsy shop and my full time job, I've definitely got my hands full! If you're interested in checking out my Etsy shop, the link is down below. I don't just sell jewelry, but cross stitch too, and possibly some other artwork in the future. Stop by and take a
The Return Of Moonbeam Chapter Seventy One
Bobby Hope is a funny thing. It plays tricks on you in ways you often cannot imagine until it's too late. Sometimes, this is a good thing. Other times, not so much. I made this discovery when I typed my mother's name into the ancestry website I signed up for. I had hopes as I typed on my little phone screen. Then, as I hit enter, I was momentarily terrified. What if there were no results? It turns out the opposite was true. There were a lot of results. Hope gave me a positive and a negative. I found Celeste Peterson. Now which one was she? Or, was she even among the listed? There were about 30 of them, and I was able to eliminate close to half of them right away because they were younger than me. At least there was that much. I guess I wasn't really sure what I was looking for. I tapped on the names and perused the information given for each individual and their family tree. There was nothing that stood out. That doesn't mean these women were out of the question. I

Alright, well it's been a hot minute since I've updated the Moonbeam story. I have been working on it but the writing has been kinda slow. I've been really busy at work and trying to figure out my insurance because shit is all messed up. It's clearing up now, but I hope to have some more chapters submitted soon. Stay tuned if you are waiting for more chapters to the story. There is still a lot more to come!
Clarification
Just to clarify, I had my surgery in December and started feeling better in January. I've been fairly healthy since then, with the exception of weird pain on the left side near the bottom of my ribcage. I saw the doctor and he told me I had a mass on my spleen and a cyst on my left kidney. He sent me to get another ultrasound. That turned up nothing bad. Benign lesion. So they decided not to do anything and thankfully the pain hasn't come back. Other than some scars on my stomach, my body has returned to normal. HAPPY DANCE!
Thanks again for everyone who sent "Get Well" wishes my way! It was greatly appreciated.
